Venezuela Update

If this isn't scary then I don't know what is. Can Venezuela cause us more harm than Iraq? Me thinks so. Note -- Venezuela ytd Sept '03 has provided 13% of our total crude and is the fourth largest provider (was third but after Hugo and the PDVSA strike, they lost roughly 30% of their production capacity). What happens if that is shut off? George are you on this?
(Via The Devils Excrement)

-According to today’s El Universal between September 26th. and October 27th. 11,530 Cubans were flown into Venezuela arriving through the Presidential gate of the International Airport. The paper shows copies of the immigration forms, has a list of all the flights and how many passengers arrived in each one and shows pictures of some of the arrivals. All the passengers gave their profession as medical doctors and all of them said their address was the Cuban Embassy in Caracas. Will anyone investigate? Will these Cubans become the “people” protesting in the streets against Chavez being revoked? What are they doing here?
The Chi-burgh Connection

Sorry for the limited posting, but I've been allocating my time to studying for the CFA Exam (Fun, Fun, Fun). In the meantime, Ian keeps the hits coming over at the Chi-burgh connection (my other blog project) and has a killer post today on the current political alternatives that we the voters face (though I still think one should vote, regardless of the quality, or lack there of, of our candidates). Check, check, check it out.

Can we make it mandatory that politicians have some basic understanding of economics? PLEASE!!!
