My 2 Cents adding up to a Dime

No rants today, just some friendly advice.....DO SOMETHING OUTSIDE THIS WEEKEND.

Literally, being outside is the thing to do and on top of that getting tan is worth at least 5-10 trips to the gym...No Joke. Attempt to do something that is somewhat athletic or involves reading something that is at least slightly stimulating. Beach volleyball or hoops on tap for me.

Probably no posts till Sunday, sorry...

Things are shaping up for the Champology Blog. Links are working from yesterday, check it out. I just figured out how to post the email address, so please email me comments, love, hate, and respect. The respond react portion of the program will be up today and the voice of the readers will be heard, or at least read. Also, I am offering an email update that will be sent every time the blog is updated. Just send your name, address, home phone number, middle initial, favorite Steve Sanders Beverly Hills 90210 episode, favorite exercise in the gym, your daily caloric intake, ethnicity, place of birth, favorite cd, your most frequently used username and password, and of course your one rep max on the bench press (that was Mike Soffer style) and I will promptly add you to the list (or just send me an email and answer any of the above questions).

Hot Music for 6/6/02

An excerpt from Doug Christie’s interview with the New York Times courtesy of the Sports GuyQuestion:

What's the story with Doug Christie?
Did you see that New York Times article about Christie and his wife, the piece that resulted in the Whipped Hall of Fame being quickly changed to the Doug Christie Memorial Hall of Fame? Everyone has that one buddy who constantly makes up lame excuses because his wife or girlfriend won't let him leave the house, but Christie takes it to another level. This is unprecedented stuff. Few things have rendered me speechless over the years, but check out some of these tidbits:
· You know when Christie raises his arm, extends his pinky and index fingers and signals into the air? He's actually signaling "I love you" to his wife (Jackie), something that happens 50-60 times a game, even during crunch-time. It's almost like he suffers from a whipped version of Tourette's.
· Some direct quotes and excerpts: "With few exceptions, Doug Christie does not look at other women, avoiding dialogue or even direct contact" ... The Christies remarry every year on their anniversary, "not a mere renewal of their wedding vows but an actual wedding -- replete with friends, family cake and a reception" ... Mrs. Christie attends 25-30 of the Kings road games, always riding on the team charter ... "(She) arrives before games with her husband and leaves with him after" ... "She sends him a note in the locker room before every game, taken there by a team attendant. He writes a reply and sends it back" ... "Sometimes on the road, Jackie will ride in a car behind the team bus, talking to Doug until he arrives at the hotel or arena."
(I kept waiting for this part: "When Doug asked if he could attend Mateen Cleaves' bachelor party this season, his wife burned his clothes and set his BMW convertible on fire.")
· My favorite part: "When Christie played for the Raptors, his wife once confronted a female fan seeking an autograph and a kiss in Toronto. 'A security guard grabbed her, but I put my hand up and told her to back off really loud,' she said. 'It scared me, because my voice sounded like a demon ... she was touching someone she shouldn't have been.'"

1. If you had one TV wish, wouldn't it be for the Christies to appear on "Temptation Island." I always write how this-and-that would make for the greatest TV series ever, but realistically, a "Temptation Island" with the Christies ... that would never be topped in the annals of TV history. That's the Comedy Ceiling right there, isn't it? Even my idea for the HBO talk show with Corey Haim, Corey Feldman and an open bar couldn't come close.

---WOW....I can only sum this up by saying that I can only hope to have a similar type relationship with my future wife. Doug you are one lucky guy. Just think one day I can sign my wife like crazy when I am sitting at my desk at work. - Christian

Other quick briefs…

The War on Fat...What a joke. Obviously some people sit aroung and look for reasons to tax us.

"They know their products are unhealthy! They deliberately target children! They hook them before they're old enough to know better!"

Look for a fat tax in the very near future ala tabaco. Too bad people don't realize that fat is actually healthy. Udo's Choice, extra virgin olive oil, essential fatty acids, many nuts and flax oil are all great fats. Check out the book -- Fats that heal, Fats that kill...(to tired to link sorry)...

Great WSJ article on all the M&A activity we have seen over the past couple years and the results. Tyco, WorldCom, CISCO and even the darling GE, are all facing pressure and selling off assets. It appears that synergy was not all that it was cracked up to be. The article also alludes to a possible impending accounting scandal based on the booking of the stock for asset transactions. Michael Lewis has been doing nothing but licking his chops after Enron, Arthur Anderson and everything else that is going. No link since it is a pay site only.

Ralph Nader goes after the NBA officials in a letter to David Stern. Was game 6 fixed in the Lakers-Kings series? We will probably never know.

Couple comments today worthy of mentioning…

Z - so eloquently stated a plethora of things, but chiefly that I should be thankful that people pay $90 bucks a month to make my gym better and then they don’t show up. I have to say amen brother to that.

J – Wants to know the World Cup Diesel input…This one is a no brainer…though I got to give love to my other roots in Germany and Ireland…ITALY is going to roll.
Christian Vieria has the millionaire name and Toti is too good.

Starner – Wants to guest dj once in awhile and maybe something can be worked out.

Everyone else that replied, I appreciated the feedback.

Song of the day – Blue Six “Let’s do it together” ….great, great house music. Their album is very good also.

That is it for today since people were visiting coupled with going to the gym, making this huge 4 egg white, 2 whole egg omelet I am chomping on right now and trying to make this blog work.

Bed for me and a 5:30 wake up along with a 15-minute interval session of cardio (30min fast tempo, 30 minutes slow tempo). Yes, I am an insomniac and now will have the web logs to prove it.

The links now work. Thanks Ian, good looking out. By the end of the weekend(in theory anyway), everything will be running smoothly, so enjoy the ramblings.

My 2 Cents

Why does someone hire a personal trainer who is clearly not in shape? Granted, I am not the smartest person in the world, just ridiculously intelligent, but is this not counterintuitive. Do they think that the trainer has the knowledge to get them in shape, but neglects to use it for their own personal benefit? If you are that trainer, do you not have any pride? This is almost as bad as paying $90 a month for a gym membership and rarely ever showing up. Ok, that is my tangent for the day. Hope you enjoyed.

Then again—

Ok, this will be my first real post. Hopefully this site will offer some enjoyment to anyone visiting. So you are saying to yourself, Champology what? Let me tell you...Champology is a lifestyle, one that you will want to follow. Basically this will be a window into what is hot and what is not. Check it out, respond react and keep me on my toes.

Hot Music of the Day

First and foremost, if you haven't read this Bill Simmon's Sport's Guy article on the spelling bee peep it.

An interesting article that comes from the new improved American Spectator (a George Gilder Project) and is an interview with Art Laffer. Laffer is best known for the Laffer curve and is also a leading proponent of lower taxes. Someone please listen to this man.

Another must read from T-Mag and my man TC Luoma on baseball players on the Juice...This guy knows what goes on, yet he has some unconventional, as far as the mass media is concerned, info and advice.

Here is a fantastic ab article that will let you "floss"on the beach with your shirt off and beem with pride at the same time (at least I will be).

How to further improve productivity, which continues to improve as unemployment increases! And this article on AT&Tt.

Thankfully the Prez back tracks on the entire global warming issue and the report put out by HIS OFFICE This brings a collective sigh of relief from Conservative and Libertarians alike. After the whole tariff debacle, this would have been a truly nightmarish development. See reason mag and check out some of the back articles on the steel tariffs .
(HINT...He did it for votes!!)

Album of the Week -- Blackalicious - "Blazing Arrow" - A true classic hiphop album that mixes a blend of everything including guests such as Ben Harper and Saul Williams. Support good music and pick up this joint.

Quotes of the Day --

From Blackalicious - Purest Love -- "The most important time is now and ever after. My favorite expressions are Love, Happiness and Laughter..."

From my homeboy Niccolo Machiavelli, The Prince -- "Any man who tries to be good all the time is bound to come to ruin among the greater number who are not good. Hence a prince who wants to keep his authority must learn how not to be good, and use that knowledge, and refrain from using it, as necessity requires."

Ok, I got to get some sleep. Up tomorrow at 5ish to hit the gym, do some cardio and some abs (yep what it takes to get ripped abs, unless you are like Z and a genetic freak) plus need to do arms and shoulders tomorrow night. Will have some diet and workout tips in future editions. Hope on for the ride. I'm out.
